Rampage of Appreciation & the Art of Public Speaking

Rebecca ABraxas, Access Your VoiceWe have all been there.

Super excited about the presentation or performance we are going to do then the nerves and the self judgment come in and we contract and our minds start spinning out of control.

What I have noticed over the years is that I can remedy this with a simple technique called “A rampage of appreciation”.

When you contract in fear, stress and anxiety you are hindering your bright light you have to share with others.

This process can help you release the stress and anxiety you have with getting in front of people and it can raise your vibration so you feel bright, on fire and on purpose with your speech and with your audience.

The rampage of appreciation is very simple to do. Just begin appreciating everything around you –  Everything about this speaking gig you have, everything wonderful and not wonderful in your life… Appreciate it.

You can do it in your head or write it down. Do it the night before your appearance and the morning of, maybe even on the way there.

This will help you calm your nerves and find a potent space to speak and give from. It will also prime your audience to receive you talk!

How does it get better then that!?

If you would like to follow my journey with the

LAW OF ATTRACTION AND THE ART OF PUBLIC SPEAKING

I will be reviewing 22 processes from the book “Ask and It is Given” and how they can help you become a potent speaker who delivers content with confidence and ease.  Just subscribe below on YouTube!

#1 Tip to Speak or Sing Loud

#1 Tip To Speak & Sing with a Loud VolumeDid you ever wonder how to get your voice louder without feeling like you are straining or pushing?

So many years as a young girl people responded to me with, “Can you speak a little louder, I can’t hear you”

It was so uncomfortable trying to push out a louder voice while I felt my face get redder and redder and my heart pounding faster and faster.

Today I want to share with you the #1 tip to speak or sing loud  that I have used so people stop responding to me in this way.

It is a common thing to think we have to PUSH to get our voice out… but for any of you who have given birth, you know that if you push too hard or too soon it strains your body and some really unpleasant things can happen.

As I am writing this I am realizing that speaking or singing with a louder volume is pretty analogous to giving birth because if you let energy flow and expand to allow the baby though you give birth with ease. The same thing is true with the voice.

It is NOT A PUSH BUT AN EXPANSION  that will let your voice gain in volume.

Your whole head and body,  ALL OF IT, is a powerful resonating chamber.  When you explore expanding your awareness to sing from your whole body -expanding your breath and voice out to every cell of your body you have the opportunity to get louder.

In the practice of Yoga they teach you to breath more fully. A teacher will also guide you to take your breath to different parts of you body. This is true of your voice as well. Intend for your voice to go to all areas of your body.

To start, you may want to work with just your head. Expanding the breath and the voice through your whole mouth, throat, neck and cranial bones etc.. This leads to a  physical sensation of the throat expanding, especially the soft pallet – the soft spot behind the hard bony part of the roof of the mouth.  To physically expand the throat and back of the mouth you can imagine you are swallowing an orange. Give it a try.

It stretches your throat doesn’t it?

Now see if you can allow this physical expansion inform your intension for expanding energetically throughout the whole body, releasing any density from contracting in your body. This expanded state will allow you more volume. It is an exploration and a journey. Play with this and the more you do, the more you will notice it working.

Have fun Being Loud!!

A Song a Day Keeps the Doctor Away

A song a day

Forego the apple and insert a SONG!   A song a day keeps the Doctor away!

Singing has so many unsung benefits. On top of these it also can give you so much information about whether you are comfortable in your own skin and trust yourself!

When I was in my early 20s there were many low moments. It was at this time that I was beginning to play the guitar and sing a long to what I was playing. I didn’t put two and two together for a long time but when I did, I began to realize after singing I always felt better. I always felt more present and able to let go of my past story and I’ve noticed thru the years that even though I hadn’t been running or climbing a mountain for exercise, my aerobic ability was high. Now I know why

Singing Helps:

  • Induce the body to produce oxytocin which helps reduce stress
  • Improve your cardiac rhythm reducing risk of heart disease
  • Train the stomach muscle
  • Strengthens your immunity by increasing the concentration of immunoglobulin A
  • You breath deeply and evenly promoting proper breathing
  • Produce endorphins the “happy hormone”

If you are a closet singer, have you noticed some of these benefits?

Research is also showing these benefits show up even more with group singing.  Do you a some friends to sing with?

Its pretty cool seeing the biology of how singing can contribute. However I’ve also noticed thru the  past 20 years of being a singer / songwriter /performer that it also has been a great barometer for helping me build awareness of where I am holding myself back, what is negatively effecting me and  where my body could use some assistance in releasing tightness.

So as you sing your song a day with or without a group enjoy the great physical benefits and while you do, begin to notice what thoughts are arising, where do  you feel a bit of resistant in your body or mind and could you show up even more for the song.

In my experience it has been helpful to have a journal near by because a lot seems to unfold, unleash and release… write it down. It is is great information for transformation!

A song a day keeps the doctor away.  Happy Singing!

The Sound of Confidence

rebecca abraxas contact for performanceThere is a space of being that exudes trust in yourself and unconditional love. That space of being expresses itself as confidence and at ease in any situation.

Have you ever met some one like that?  Have you ever tried to mimic them? Maybe borrowed some of their positive phrases or ways of saying things. Maybe from listening to them so much you started speaking like them by default.

Today I want to look into this a bit further.

Everything is a vibration therefore everything is a sound, including confidence. What is the sound of CONFIDENCE?

Have you ever noticed the tone of voice that the confident person is speaking with?  Have you noticed it is a sound that you can listen to for hours?

What gives that person that sound?

I venture to say it is that something that gives them their WHY in life.  I say it is their connection to something greater that is guiding them on a divine mission. Stepping aside and letting something greater then yourself which is your bigger self that you are a part of ( I know a little strange) gives you a sense of ON PURPOSE  that changes the sound of your voice and the vibration you are giving to others. It is a vibration that is high and that others are craving to know.

Think of it like this. You are a drop of water that comes from the great sea. The drop of water has its mission then eventually goes back into the great source of water the sea.  If you had an ocean of support behind you would you have more confidence? If you knew there was a great place of refuse to fall back into would you have inhibitions? If you had a divine purpose would you care about the judgements that others had?

When you rest into the source of creation which you are a part of and which you are a part from there is a shift in vibration, there is a shift in sound, there is a shift of vocal expression, there is a shift in trusting your self.  This is the sound of true confidence and it is something people want  to be around because subconsciously they can feel and see them selves in you. The subconsciously know that they can be that too.

At least this is my point of view about it.

I would love to hear your comments

Stop Wasting Your Time at Networking Events

stop wasting your timeThe biggest reason for networking is to VOICE a clear message about what you do and to create a compelling presence so people will be inspired to refer you some business.  Take a moment to reflect. Are you accomplishing this?

I have had some interesting experiences at networking events lately.  What I noticed was at the end of the 30 – 60 second spiel people close with their name, their title and their companies tag line which is a great way to close. However, when they were doing their close their head was down, and they were beginning to sit down as they were speaking which made it hard to hear what they were saying. Not only was it hard to hear  it was also hard to receive energetically what they were conveying.

Lets talk about the voice first. You will be heard best when your body is in the “Open Flute” position. Meaning head up and posture straight. The open flute also has a sound hole so the sound can clearly be heard. For you this is your mouth. So when your mouth is open when you are speaking as opposed to somewhat closed lips with your head down your words and your message will be heard more clearly. When the head and chin are tilted down as you bend your body to sit down, you are compromising the ability for the body to produce an effective sound for your important message.  Let your voice be heard with a straight posture and a open mouth. This will help you communicate a clear vocal message.

Now let’s go to the body language. When you are giving your message while beginning to sit down with your head tilted down you are conveying a message of, “I don’t want to be seen”.  Other messages I got from witnessing this body language were, “I’m full I don’t want any more business and /or I am not confident with what I am doing”.  “I go thru the actions but I’m not into what I do.”   Is this what you want to be conveying to potential referrals? I didn’t thinks so.   So when you are closing your 30 -60 sec. spiel stand tall and embody your business, look around and make eye contact and pause when you are done to be seen.

Networking events take time out of your day. Make sure you are making the most of them by using a voice and a presence that is helping people “get” you and your services you offer.  Do not waste your time with a mumbled message and a body language that is deterring people from your business.

If you find it hard to be seen and heard and do the things I am suggesting here, I can help!  I can do Vocal Empowerment sessions in person or on the phone.

All the best at your next Networking event!!

Transform Your Self With Your Voice

Transform your Self with your voiceThe voice is used to speak language, to sing, to express emotions, to chant, to scream and, yes, it can also be used to transform your self.

Jill Purce, one of the leading pioneers in researching the effects of sound and voice on matter said, ” Sound is an incredibly powerful force…there were ways of using the voice which were the easiest ways of transforming and becoming clear, entering a state of clarity and emptiness and being present.”  She also has mentioned that the Tibetan Monks view the a human being as body, mind voice, voice being that which coordinates the body and mind.

Many past cultures have used vocal chanting and singing to transform and to actualize their realities. Sadly, we have lost that practice in today’s modern culture. Many professionals in our modern cultures today may find using the voice to sing or chant somewhat of a “woo woo” practice. However, with the studies of sound therapy, cymatics, and vibroacoustical therapy, we may begin to see the value of using our voices to transform the resistance, the blocks and  the stuckness in our careers, dream launching and relationships.

Your voice has a healing vibration:

Your voice is a wave of vibration. When you use your voice, you not only hear and receive that vibration with your ears but you also receive that vibration on the inside as well. Very powerful since the rest of your cells are vibrating as well. The sounds you marinate yourself in effect the vibration of the cells.

What vibrational impact might your voice have on your body if your mind was continually participating in judgmental thoughts?  If you thought those thoughts for years and years what symptoms might your body give you to tell you something is not jiving with it?

You have the ability to use voice and sound to transform not only your body but the limiting belief systems that are creating your reality as well. You have the ability to use your voice to sound out vowels over and over again to reset some of the frequencies that are creating things you don’t desire.

Would you like to change your discomfort or fear of being seen and heard? Would you like to trust yourself, have confidence and speak dynamically? Would you like to be an uplifter?  Would you like to contribute to the world in an amazing way?

I believe you can.

Thru using your voice to tone and chant you can begin to get back in tune with your authentic vibration. The vibration that is in tune with nature and source energy. From there not only with your voice transform but also your life. Your voice truly is your power.
