Here are 3 quick vocal warm ups for presenting with ease!
- Tongue Twisters
- Diaphragm pops
- The M’s
Tongue twisters are a fun and effective way to warm up your whole lip and mouth area for fuller expression with speaking! Your pronunciation will be brought to a new level too with these tongue twisters so the consonants you are speaking get articulated and heard. Try saying these 4 tongue twisters 5-10 times before your event.
1- Black bugs blood is blue
2- Unique New York
3- Wayne went to Wales to watch walruses.
4- A proper cup of coffee from a proper copper coffee pot.
Diaphragm pops are warming up with words that contract the diaphragm muscle which is your main breathing muscle that sits right along the bottom of the rib cage. Getting the diaphragm enlivened and ready for action with fuller breaths to support longer bouts of talking, will give you a smooth approach and your listeners will find your speaking more easeful to listen to.
The consonants to play with are P, D, & Sh
say words like “Pop” “Dirty Dog” and “Shush” – say these normally, then say them with a “staccato” approach, quick and short.
The M’s are to get your vocal chords moving with the breath as well as create awareness of the 4 resonant chambers so you have a nice even quality to your voice and your audience will want to listen to your words.
Say: Ma, Me, Mi, Mo, Moo
First say these M’s so that your chest vibrates, then say it like the words were marbles in your mouth and you were trying not to let them fall out, thirdly, say them like you were the wicked witch of the west with a nasal tone, finally, turn into Glenda the good witch and say the words in an upper fairy head voice way.

We may not think much of our voice until we have to get up and do a presentation, or get on camera or sing a song. However, each moment our voice has a lot to say.
Your voice can be a window to your soul.
When your voice is free I venture to say you are feeling more free inside to be your true self. When your voice is free you have a confidence and ease with showing up and being heard. At least this is what I have experienced. Thru the years here are some affirmations I have used to stay open with my voice when I have been on stage. May these 7 affirmations to free your voice be a contribution to you! Your Brilliance can change the world!

How to use these affirmations:
1-First Aid: When you find yourself feeling self conscious or uncomfortable -contracted in your body and inhibited yet your still aware of a “green light” energy of “go do this”, pick one of these affirmations to use or several. Use them on the spot!
2-Personal practice: If you are aware of a specific pattern that shows up you can pick the affirmation that lights you up and say it as a mantra practice morning and night. Say it 10-30 times at a sitting. (or in the car, this is were I get a lot of my transformational practice done LOL) This will help you rewire your experience with using your voice.
With these affirmations under your belt you will begin to find more ease with your video blogs, speaking in a room full of people, making a presentation or even with speaking to your children.

Stress can really get us in a state that at first feels enlivening and exciting. It’s is that fight or flight response the body goes thru when it needs to “fight off a lion”. However, left as a default mode, it can not only wreak havoc on our physical body with symptoms such as not being able to sleep, exhaustion, edginess, unwanted belly fat, poor digestion so on and so forth, it can also wreak havoc on our self esteem and our ability to “shine bright”. We can begin to get down on ourselves and depression can set in.
Today I want to share with you a fun way to BLAST STRESS AWAY!
The trick to keeping the fight or flight response balanced in the body is to keep the energy in the body flowing like an even steam. You can do this with your perceptions around what is happening in your life and you can do this with SOUND!
Lets talk about sound today!
There is a phenomena in the SOUND HEALING world where you find out the sound of the disfunction in cells, play it back and help them implode and get destroyed. What if we could do that to the build up of energy in our body with stress. I have been doing this myself as well as with clients and it seems to do a great job in BLASTING STRESS AWAY.
So this is what you do:
- Find a quiet place to “tune in” to you.
- Then start to feel where there is tension or a heaviness in your body
- From there pay attention to that area. As you tune in become aware of the color in that area (if it had a color what color would it be)
- Now once you have tuned into the tension and the color begin to see if it has a sound. It may be a groan, a vowel sound or a weird indescribable sound
- Would you be willing to give the tension energy a voice without judging the sound that comes out?
- Keep making the sound until it begins to shift or soften
- Then go to the next sound you that comes up…. and the next
Once you get the hang of this, it is a really easy way to release tension from your perception of stress. I do it in the car, I do it when I’m doing my social networking, in the shower, on my walks. It is a really mobile effective and pragmatic practice to keep your lifeforce energy flowing with ease. When that lifeforce energy is flowing with ease, the body’s signal for the “flight or flight” response does not activate and you will not have the cascade effect of the stress response in the body that after a while can really wreak havoc on your sense of wellbeing.
Guess what this means?
You will feel really good. You will have a sense of ease and trust in yourself. You will have the ability to shine bright your true nature that is attractive and sexy in everybody!!
Sing your stress song then go shine bright!!!

While I do agree sometimes with being present with what is, there are moments in our life where grumpy is just not going to cut it. Being grumpy in front of a room full of people you have to do an inspiring speech to or getting on camera for your marketing video or being a chaperone for your first graders field trip … Sorry Grumpy is not just not going to cut it!

Tool: EXPAND YOUR ENERGY
You see being grumpy, comes from buying into a reality of a past story, pattern, judgment or belief – yours or someone else’s. It doesn’t matter if it is yours or someone else’s this tool will work. When we “buy into” a story on an energetic level it becomes dense, energy contracts. At least that is how I see it.
Your natural state of being is an infinite being of source energy that vibrates high and expands far and wide.
When we are in a grumpy space part of us doesn’t believe in this expanded version of ourselves and we sense a contracted dense heavy space of being. It tends to not feel too good, unless we are so used to it it becomes what is more comfortable then feeling expanded and light.
When you feel this grumpy heavy sensation instead of going more into the story of it all see if you can expand the heavy dense energy you feel. Ask for your energy to expand out to the 4 corners of the room you are in, if you are able to do that and it feels a little lighter, then expand it even further past the town you are in, past the state, then the country, now to the stars.
Would an infinite being feel heavy and contracted? By expanding your energy you are revisiting and remembering the greatness you are and the space of glorious beingness that is always there for you to be. You can always revisit a story if you want to later. But for now if you require your mood and energy to shift to be brilliant, dynamic and confident in what the present moment is requiring of you – EXPAND YOUR ENERGY!
This may seem simple, but the unseen world response to intensions, thoughts and energy. So if it could be simple and easy, would you be willing to allow it to be so. Would you be willing to believe in your brilliance to shift and change on a dime. Would you be willing to choose your greatness?

When it comes down to it, what really works?
What works to get your message heard? What works to sing beautifully? What works to get the clients you desire? What works to parent with ease? What works to really get what you think you desire?
After many years of looking at a lot of how to books, a lot of business and spiritual and psychological philosophy the one common thread I’ve seen is CHOICE! What would it take to fully 100% choose the change you are asking for.
Hint: if you are wining and complaining and still in the story of change not happening to you yet – you have not choosen change yet… no big deal … choose it when you are ready. But be aware, that the energy of the story of what you don’t have yet, cues the universe to match your life with that energy of what you don’t have yet.
So a question you may want to ask your self is, “Am I really choosing “it” ? (whatever it is for you)
Am I really choosing to be potent as hell and for my message to be heard and for my voice to be a powerful agent of expression that creates change in the world?
Am I willing to be BOLD, BRAVE AND BODACIOUS?
The energy of choice brings a laser like focus to what you are asking. This laser focus makes any modality or “how to model” work.
YOU are the power behind the change, not the modality, not the bullet points, not the tools or techniques.
There are so many tools, practices, modalities, schools of thought, organizations, etc. All of them have their levels of success. The key ingredient? YOU! Are you willing to choose, focus like never before, tune into the truest part of you, listen and be aware? Then you are choosing change and you will see change occur!
Vocal awareness equals more ease with parenting?
Vocal Awareness is being aware of what is happening with your voice at any given time of the day. There is information in the volume, the tone, the pitch and the quality of your voice that you can use to make some choices that will support you in your parenting.
Are you showing up for your children?
Are you being present with them?
Are you getting the results from your children that work for you in your home?
Are you totally resourced and aligned with your true self while communicating with them?
This is all in your voice and you can begin to listen to your voice with ears and awareness that will help you take a step back and ask questions like, “What is this? Who am I being? Is this working? ”
When you can take a step back to ask these questions you will begin to become more aware of what is going on for you. For example, maybe you are asking your boys to clean up their dishes. Notice the tone you are using. Are they hearing your? Do you have overwhelm in your voice? Is your voice monotone? Is it loud? Does it have a nagging tone to it? Is it working? Are your boys responding?
By becoming aware of where you are and what tone you are using, you open your self up to making a conscious choice of where to speak from. If you notice that you have overwhelm in your voice and your boys are not responding, (because really who wants to get near someone in over whelm) you then can tune in to you, expand your energy by taking a deep breath and use a tone that would work better.
Our tone of voice can let us know if we are tired, annoyed, frustrated, scared, overwhelmed, bored, mad etc. The cool part about becoming aware of your voice is that you can then consciously pick a tone that will work for the situation but not make vital the feeling behind it.
For example, many boys respond more ease fully to a stern louder voice. What if you could be that potency with out feeling stern? It is just an aware choice. Most parenting experts agree that if you can be stern with out being invested in an emotion behind it, the children will see a more emotionally regulated adult and learn emotional health as a result.
As a parent your voice is powerful and it is that much more powerful if you become aware of what your voice is really saying and make conscious choices about how to use it.
Bottom line: Vocal Awareness really does equal easeful parenting!
Did you know the greatest impact you can make on the planet is thru being your true self?
Sounds good right? But what really is your ‘TRUE SELF’. Your true self knows no fears, no limitations, no judgments and knows only possibility. How often do you not only live from that space of being but also speak from that space of being? When you are your true self it is a power magnet to what you truly desire in your life which usually includes some way of impacting the world in a positive way!
It may or may not be easy to be aware of whether you are in your true self. One thing for sure is if you are experiencing fear, limitation, or judgment you are not there. So if you become aware that you are experiencing these things I have a tip for you.
1 Tip: Ask, “What is this?” then ask, “Who does this belong to?”and then CLEAR THE FIELD!
There is a field around you that scientists are beginning to call the Bio Field. This is the energy around you that proceeds the denser energy of your body. What is in your Bio Field actually affects you. Interestingly enough not all the energies that are collected in your Bio Field are yours – You see not every thought, feeling and emotion you are experiencing is yours. Gary Douglas, the founder of Access Consciousness, says that 98% of our thoughts, feelings and emotions actually are someone else’s we picked up along the way to be helpers (if you have this pattern, what would it take to change that and help the world in a different way that is not so destructive to you?) If we let go of 98% of what we are thinking and feelings what is left? – A lot of our TRUE SELF!! And that is the space where we make our massive impact in the world!
3 Tools: To Clear The Field
1. Return To Sender –
Once you have an AH HA moment and realize what thoughts, feelings and emotions are not yours you can say “return to sender”. The unseen world is quit responsive to awareness. Once you become aware of whats not yours then it’s like shining a flashlight on the dark corners of a closet. You bring light to something that you couldn’t find, you find it and then it can be moved, used or removed. Ultimately you are more choice to be your true self.
2. Physically Clear the Field –
If you have a sense that you are not being your true self you can physically brush your hands down your arms and down your body and say, “I’m clearing the field”. This will clear the field of energy that is not yours. Again, your awareness with your choice to let something go is powerful enough to change what you are experiencing. A lot of that has to do with the fact that most of it is not yours!
Clearing the field is a powerful tool to get to your True Self. The cool part about that is when you speak or sing or express from that space of being there is no fear, no judgment and no limitation, only possibility. Do you have a sense this could make it way more easier to present yourself in front of any room or audience with potency and impact? Are you willing to be more of you? Are you willing to express more of you? Are you willing to help change the world?

How To Love your Fear of Public Speaking Away
Even the most empowered person can face fear of public speaking once in a while especially when faced with presenting to an audience. Statistics say that fear of public speaking is the nations #1 phobia. 3 our of 4 people experience fear of public speaking; so you are not alone. With this fear comes extreme self doubt.
It is interesting how educated professionals who are amazing at what they do freeze up when asked to speak about what they do. What is that about?
One of the ways to look at this fear and doubt is to take a look at where you may be over emphasizing a core belief. This may require some soul searching but it is well worth it.
Here are some common core beliefs that can trip people up when they are in front of an audience and have fear of public speaking.
1) Fear of failure
2) Not good enough
3) Fear of rejection
4)I’m not interesting
All these common beliefs stem from one root, unconditional love or the lack there of.
To begin to get past these core beliefs begin to turn them around on yourself.
What happens if you fail? Can you forgive yourself?
If your not perfect, can you giggle and be ok with yourself?
Will you always be there for you if if your not perfect?
Are you interesting to yourself? IF not then why are you doing what you are doing?
Are you willing to love yourself no matter what? From there you may start to see some changes in your fear level.
Now imagine watching a public speaker. Do you judge them? Do you put them down for doing a poor job? Do you reject them and walk out? If they are not interesting in their talk do you think they are a worthless person?
Sometimes when we are hard on ourselves we are pretty hard on others. When we are pretty hard on others it’s pretty easy to think they will be hard on us. You can change this around by exploring your level of unconditional love for yourself – you’ll love your self without judgement no matter what!
Maybe create a morning affirmation such as, ” I love you no matter what ” and say it while you look at yourself in the mirror. I know this sounds a little corny but do you want relief from your fear? Are you willing to do what ever it takes?
Unconditional love for yourself will begin to help you release your self judgment and release your fear of public speaking. Like the domino effect If you can cultivate self love then you begin to cultivate love for others and realize we are all in this together and there is no reason to be fearful.
Guess what happens when you take the reins of fear like this? Your voice opens up to more possibility!!
