weird selfThis morning I saw on face book a Russian woman wearing goddess clothes with furs. She was making amazing animal sounds with an orchestra behind her.  It was amazing. However, what struck me even more then her talent was what it took to get to that prestigious stage she was standing and performing on.

What calling must she have had? I am curious about the amount of trust in oneself that takes. I am curious about the amount of belief she must have in herself to cultivate this and bring it to people over and over again until it was received in a big way. Do You think that there were a lot of people that didn’t “get it”?   Do you think there may have been a lot of neigh sayers?   HELL YEA

Are you FREE TO BE YOUR WEIRD SELF?

Do you allow your deepest calling to come out and play in your life regardless of being accepted or rejected?

If not, what is that? What is getting in the way of you being your most creative self?

As a singer songwriter I’ve noticed lately the courage it takes to share your creation with people you have no idea will like what you are doing.

My husband is an artist and he goes thru the same thing. As I look back over my 20 years as a songwriter and singer I realize in the moment I may have been nervous but it never stopped me nor has it stopped my husband. I get curious about that. What made me keep going? What made it imperative to keep writing and keep sharing?  I believe the answer will be different for everyone. For me it felt like a mission to connect spiritually with my world and my communities. I tend to write songs about personal growth and it felt important to me to get these concepts out to the world. It also just felt so damn good to sing!

To allow our creativity and contribution to the world does take courage!  And it also take a tuning into what makes you feel really good and what you feel a burning desire to do. I believe the key here is taking a bit of time to cultivate and listen to what that is.

Would you be willing to slow down, take 10 -20 minutes daily to listen to your heart?

This listening is what opened up the whole path of songwriting and singing for me.  It is my point of view that in the stillness and in the quiet there is a lot of information!

If you would like some tips on getting quiet… meditation ideas etc  comment below. I’d be thrilled to share what has been helpful to me!

Here is some of what we do that isn’t  in the box of normal!   Our friend Alex Andrews has been collecting pieces of this studio for years!   We finally got to play in it this weekend .. .I got to bring my songs. My husband got to play with video gear… We were in our glory ahhh
