3 Benefits of Sound Therapy
Sound therapy, whether through private sessions, recordings, or live sound baths, can positively affect your health and wellness. The way it works is by entraining the vibration of your mind, body, and energy to a specific frequency. We are made up of many many frequencies from the thoughts, feelings, and emotions we experience as well as the body parts themselves and the energies we are around. When you are deliberate about what vibrational frequencies you receive, you find that your level of health improves. It is through sound therapy and living intentionally that you can find a state of inner calm and peace that can be unwavering. This state of peace puts your body in homeostasis where every part is in resonant harmony together.
Reset the Nervous System With Sound Therapy
You will find that sound therapy is very good at resetting your nervous system. Many of us are living with a sympathetic response from our nervous system. You may have heard the terms, fight or flight or Type A personality. These terms are referring to the nervous system being in a state of stress. In this state, the body perceives that it is in danger and it is on high alert. You can imagine that living in this state can be detrimental to one’s health if it lasts too long. Sound therapy has a way of shifting the sympathetic response to a parasympathetic response via vagal tone. The vagus nerve runs past the ears as well as the throat so if you are listening to sound or even making sound with your own voice, the vagus nerve is activated and calms the nervous system down.
Balance the Chakras and Endocrine System with Sound Therapy
Another way sound healing can make you feel so much better is by making shifts in your energy systems, such as the chakras. There are frequency maps that help balance the energy in the chakras. Each chakra is linked to an endocrine gland in the body and relates to the psychology in your mind and subconscious. When you use specific intentions and frequencies for each chakra you can create harmony not only in your energy centers but through your body and mind. For example, the second chakra is linked to the ovaries and testes as well as the kidneys, and bladder. It has to do with desire, pleasure, feelings, sexuality, and procreation. So when it is in disharmony you can have reproductive challenges and challenges with receiving nurturing and feeling. Balancing this chakra with the note of D can bring harmony to these challenges.
Process Stuck Emotions with Sound
Processing emotions and feelings is another powerful way to use sound therapy. If for example, you are feeling angry, you can listen to frequencies that either entrain the anger to another frequency or use a frequency that matches the frequency of anger and let it process it until the energy moves. One way to do this is to use the G note frequency of 392hz. This frequency can help the throat chakra get active in releasing the anger energy. Another way to do it is to feel the anger and be aware of where you feel it in the body. Then offer your voice to that area of the body to make a low grumble sound into a vowel tone to process the anger.
Easy to use
What I like about sound therapy is that it is very user-friendly and moves energy very swiftly. For example, today I was feeling a bit of brain fog while writing this blog. I put on one of my sound baths from my YouTube channel and started to feel clearer within 10 min. That is pretty quick! Now don’t get me wrong, going to a live 90-minute sound bath is sublime but sometimes during the day-to-day, it’s nice to have a tool up your sleeve to come back to harmony and balance.
